In the IETF, the DNS Operations (DNSOP) Working Group serves as the shepherd of the DNS protocols. It develops guidelines for the operation of DNS software and services as well as the operation of DNS zones. In addition, it has become the starting point for proposed extensions and improvements to the DNS protocol itself.

At IETF 101 in London the two current chairs of the DNSOP Working Group, Suzanne Woolf and Tim Wicinski, expressed their desire to have a third chair to help deal with the increasing workload and ongoing proposals.

IETF Area Director Warren Kumari announced today that Benno Overeinder was appointed DNSOP co-chair.
